Dear Salotto Family,
We are fortunate to have been re-categorized and will be remaining open with our strict Covid-protocols in place while our county moves into the purple tier. But, sadly we are watching some of our fellow businesses close their doors. Some permanently.
We are all seeing the effects of this pandemic, what it has done to our economy and all of our lively hoods. The hustle and bustle of the holiday season will ring a different tune this year. Our own business has begun to slow down. The initial bubble we experienced when we reopened has fizzled because people are still worried about the virus, and rightfully so. When there is a shift in our positive cases we experience last minute cancellations and when flu season hits we anticipate this to be an even more common occurrence. We are bracing our business and our team for this inevitable fall out.
But, more importantly we are seeing clients come in who are struggling just the same as we are. Some even with the added complications of virtual learning and family health concerns to boot. All the same, there is still a willing to spend and, maybe more so, to escape their confines just to have a sense of normalcy and to feel good about themselves again. We all have good reason to be feeling down. But for us, when our clients see their hair rejuvenated, and the life brought back to their reflection, it reminds us that the work we do is essential to the wellbeing of our community. Let’s face it, when you look good, you feel good.
So we here at Salotto would like to ask you to team up with us.
If you or someone you know is struggling, unemployed, or is just down on their luck, please submit a nomination in their honor for a chance for some hair-apy that just might brighten up their lives. We will be volunteering our time to service those in need at no cost to them. It’s our way of giving back to our community, and you, for all you have done during our journey this year (and over the past 15 years) to keep us going.
Your donations, hat purchases, and even stocking your shower supply at Salotto has helped our small business immensely, but here is another way you can help. If you love our salon, help us spread the word about what makes Salotto special. Your word of mouth remains our most valuable asset.

Keep it LOCAL, San Diego!
For many, Amazon and Instacart have been essential for our bunker-lifestyles this year. Big box businesses are thriving, while mom and pops are being forced out of business after decades of serving their communities. So this year, we have procured a few hand-picked LOCAL goods to encourage gift-giving on a local level. Whether it is at Salotto or elsewhere, we hope you will go the extra mile and explore your local boutiques or your neighbors home-based business to fill Santa’s sack.
Yellow Harp Essentials
“Hi, I’m Korissa Silverthorn, the owner and creator of Yellow Harp Essentials. I lovingly hand craft each candle to be the safest, cleanest, and most beautiful candle it can be. My focus is on high quality ingredients, sophisticated and unique scents, and classic luxury.”
Each hand-poured candle is made with coconut wax which is a sustainable, creamy and beautiful wax. It is slow burning, which means your candle will last up to 70 hours when burned correctly!
Wood wicks lend an extra special flair to our candles. They are real, unprocessed wood ethically sourced in the USA.
These fragrances are always of the highest quality and will never include phthalates, toxins, or Prop 65 ingredients and will always pass the most stringent safety standards so you can feel confident burning Yellow Harp candles in your home. The scents are uniquely beautiful and room filling without being overwhelming.
Goat Nail Lacquer
Goat Nail Lacquer is a vegan, cruelty-free, 7-free line of nail polish created by Sarah Piha.
“This means our line doesn’t contain animal products, test on animals, or use the 7 major toxic chemicals found in most nail polish brands.”
Sarah worked with the nation’s top nail polish experts, colorists, bottlers, and chemists to create the ultimate nail polish that is chemically conscious (7-free), cruelty-free, vegan, fast-drying, long-lasting, and super smoooth to apply.
Since Sarah is a graphic designer, not a beauty guru, she wanted to create a polish that was easy to put on herself. If she could do a good manicure and pedicure, anyone could.
If you know of any locally made products that would make a nice addition to Salotto’s new boutique collection, please email Corinne at customerservice@salottosalon.com. Because as we tell our boys, “Sharing is caring”
